Habit: Bulbous herbaceous perennial.
Stem: Leafless scape, 15–25 cm tall.
Leaf: Narrow, linear, basal, dark green, emerging after flowering.
Flowering: Late summer–autumn (rain-induced).
Flowers: Solitary, funnel-shaped; bright lemon-yellow; 6 equal tepals, 2.5–3.5 cm long, with an orange throat; exserted stigma and 6 stamens.
Fruit: Small capsule containing black seeds.
Uses:
- Bulb alkaloids are emetic/purgative. Caution should be practiced.
- Used as Ornamental plant in gardens, borders, pots
- The plant looks cheerful in post-rain period.
