Habit: Prostrate perennial herb.
Stem: Slender, creeping, much-branched, rooting at the nodes, densely pubescent.
Leaf: Alternate, orbicular to broadly ovate, 0.5–2 cm diameter, entire, rounded at apex, densely silky-pubescent, short-petiolate.
Flowering: Throughout the year, especially during the rainy season.
Flowers: Solitary, axillary; corolla rotate to funnel-shaped, pale blue to lavender, 5-lobed; stamens 5, epipetalous; ovary superior, bicarpellary.
Fruit: Globose capsule, 2–4-seeded, enclosed by the persistent calyx.
Uses:
- Plant contains active compounds such as ursolic acid, β-sitosterol, alkaloids (scopoletin), flavonoids (kaempferol) and stigmasterol that contribute to antioxidant, mild sedative, neurotransmitter balance modulating, anti-anxiety and hepatoprotective properties.
- Herbal remedies uses paste or juice of fresh plant to treat minor wounds, burns, cut, some skin ailments, scabies, scorpion sting, insect bites and rashes on tropical application. It also speed up healing.
